We've got a Dyson, and they are very good at helping with getting dust and allergens out of the house, especially if you only clean intermittantly. Certainly helps with my sinus and breathing issues. Its worth giving seating/bedding a once over occasionally too.

However, there are some things, notably plaster dust, that can get right though all the filters even though a lot is trapped. If anyone is working with plaster or similar (builders or fursuiters!) its worth cleaning the filter that is supposed to last six months every couple of weeks. The final "lifetime" HEPA filter (if your model has that one) can also stand being changed every couple of years. It probably would last a lifetime in a normal household.

Hope you all reap the benefits of the new cleaner!
